Aquidneck Island Energy Initiative
People's Power & Light worked with the Sierra Club RI Chapter in 2007-08 to look into the possibility of a community-wide energy initiative for Aquidneck Island. We found a community and public officials ripe for the idea, and they organized an energy conference Sept. 20, 2008 to explore the idea and a broad selection of other sustainable energy topics. At the end of the conference, the Aquidneck Island Planning Commission’s Executive Director Tina Dolen facilitated a town meeting-style forum, brainstorming on the needs and ideas for an island-wide energy initiative. Dozens of people signed up to try to launch an initiative.
